Gear Review - KEEN's Madison Low CNX Ladies’ Walking Shoes

KEEN walking shoesFirst impressions always make an impact and lifting these shoes from the box immediately showed how lightweight they really are. Amazingly light in fact.KEEN describe them as "a streamlined, high-octane trail shoe" offering support and protection with exceptional flex and feel. Their website also stresses their durability and comfort. Also of note was their striking colour scheme which was very contemporary.

How did they perform on test? A week long holiday in Morocco in the Atlas Mountains and the city of Marrakech provided a varied testing ground. Worn straight from the box there was a little discomfort initially at the back of the ankle but this was soon gone and they provided lightweight and durable protection on easier trails. With the weather hot and the paths dry and dusty there was some ingress of dust but this was not cause for concern. On harder trails they were perhaps a little too lightweight and better ankle support would have been preferred.

Pounding the city streets was where they came into their own. With temperatures soaring into the high 30s, the mesh construction provided plenty of airflow across hot feet. Their weight was also a bonus as it was hard to tell you wearing anything on your feet. After two days sightseeing often covering ten miles in a day they proved to be as near as perfect as one might expect.

Overall view was that they area great for easier trails and city sightseeing.
